We’re super exicited that several of our songs from the Winterband EP will be featured in the new web series Girl/Girl Scene., and not only that but we have a brief appearance in the premiere episode as well!!
Taken from the Girl/Girl Scene site:
“Based on the lives and loves of four young friends, this series boldly goes where no other has gone before – between the sheets and into the minds and hearts of unapologetically queer women living in middle America. But underlying the many shocking and controversial moments is an important drama exploring the intoxicating extremes of modern day life and love. Refreshingly non-judgmental and atypical in its embrace of stereotype, with its sometimes funny, always provocative storylines, Girl/Girl Scene is a vibrant, vital and honest reflection of today’s young lesbian culture.”
This is all very exciting. As soon as we know the release date, we’ll let you know! Oh and did we mention that our very own Jack Cofer stars in the series as Elliot, a transgendered high school student?? Go Jack!!
We have the honor of being on CD Central’s TOP 12 KENTUCKY RELEASES OF 2009!!! To read more and find out who else made the list, click the clink and then download the PDF.
This past Saturday we had the good fortune to play w/ two AMAZING bands from the San Francisco based record lable, Queer Control Records. QCR is a non profit record label that exists to promote LGBTIQQ music and musicians; to sponsor special events involving the public performance of LGBTIQQ music and musicians; and to provide musical education and instrument instruction for aspiring LGBTIQQ musicians.
Not only was the music terrific, but we were able to raise over $400 for AVOL, which is a Lexington based non profit that is committed to providing education, outreach, and advocacy about HIV and AIDS in Central and Eastern Kentucky.
Finally, look out for a review of the show in the next issue of North of Center.
